Applications are invited for the post of post-doctoral research fellowship at the Institute of Ophthalmology. UCL Institute of Ophthalmology is one of the foremost eye institutes in the world and enjoys an international reputation for excellence in fundamental research that facilitates successful translational and clinical programmes. The Institute is extremely well resourced, offers an exciting environment for collaborative research and enjoys close links with UCL Biomedicine and Moorfields Eye Hospital.

This research post is based on elucidating the molecular and cellular basis of a form of inherited retinal degeneration. The successful candidate will have a good range of experience in several aspects of biochemistry and molecular cell biology, possibly including chaperone biology; the cellular protein degradation machinery; the cytoskeleton; or retinal disease processes.

Starting salary will be on the Grade 7/8 UCL pay scale between spine points 29 - 43 (£25,889 - £39,160 per annum) according to experience and qualifications, plus £2,497 London Allowance per annum. The post is funded by The Wellcome Trust and will be for up to 2 years (in the first instance).
